The city of the kings
Main point of connection between all the cities of the country, due to the centralism of its means of transport; Lima, the Peruvian capital, was founded by Francisco Pizarro in 1535, it accquired the name of “City of Kings”. Lima is built over Inca buildings of the former ruler Taullichusko. Also called “Garden City”, it became the capital of the viceroyalty and since then has been expanding, through the centuries, to make the way for one of the largest and most important cities in South America. Full of contrasts and traditions, this city offers in its historical center one of the most beautiful examples of colonial architecture: beautiful houses, magnificent balconies, magnificent churches, convents and monasteries, unique in their kind. Its interesting museums, some archaeological remains, the bohemian Barranco neighborhood, its rich gastronomy, the modern neighborhoods of Miraflores or San Isidro and the so-called “young villages”, make its cultural richness transcend between the past and the present.
